Brief Answer:
different possible causes

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

The most common reasons for swelling in this area are -(1) inflammation or infection of the mouth/teeth/gum on that side
(2)infection or inflammation of the parotid gland on the affected side
(3)allergic reaction from a sting or insect bite
(4)trauma to that area

If it is the parotid gland, you may notice that the swelling might worsen when eating or drinking. This would need to be assessed by your doctor since it can sometimes mean a stone is present in the parotid or one of its passage ways. Antibiotics are sometimes needed

If you notice a bite or sting mark, then using an anti histamine would help.

Swelling that occurs as a result of trauma, can be treated with an anti inflammatory medication eg naproxen, ibuprofen or cataflam.
One of these would also help with issues with the mouth, if this is the problem but additional treatment would also be required in that case.

If the swelling worsens or does not improve or additional symptoms develop, then it would be best to see your doctor for assessment.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
