Question : I have been taking gabapentin (300mg capsule) since having shingles & do not understand what kind of meds this is. elainepritchett@gmail,com I am still having a terrible headache and pain in my right eye. residule from shingles I presume, it just will not go away. Shingles started in February 2018

I can certainly understand your concern

I have worked through your attached query in detail.

Gabapentin is a neuromodulatory agent that helps to reduce the pain.

As your symptoms have not reduced as yet, adding another Immunomodulatory agent will be handy.

Likewise it's important to rule out intracranial pathology through an MRI SCAN OF BRAIN.

Further management if any is largely based on test results.

Complete recovery may take upto 6 months.
