Question : Why do men get urinary tract infections?
I'm female asking the question. My husband got the urinary tract infection. We(husband & me) haven't had sex for 16 years. His friend(who is male) also got a urinary tract infection shortly after my husband. Did they(the men) have sex together or with another women - perhaps the same one?

Hi,

Men usually get urinary tract infections from the same bacteria as women. These bacteria can be transmitted sexually, but it is most likely a coincidence. It would be necessary to know the type of bacteria that caused the infection in both males to ascertain any association.
