For this reason I would recommend consulting with your attending physician and performing some tests to investigate for the possible causes underlying fluid retention:

- a resting ECG and cardiac ultrasound to examine your heart structure and function
- NT pro BNP levels for heart failure
- Blood electrolytes for possible imbalances
- Kidney and liver function tests for possible dysfunction
- HbA1C for diabetes.
