Why Does It Feel Like The Strength In My Thigh Muscles Has Reduced Considerably?

default
Posted on Thu, 19 Jan 2023
Question: I am a 67 year old male. Good health. Over past few months, I have been finding it more difficult to get out of a chair. It seems my muscle tone in my thighs is disappearing. I need to use mostly arms to push off the chair legs. I walk everyday without any problem. My knees are stiff when I first get up; but after I get going, no problem. Do I simply need to go to a gym and start using the weight machine for my thighs?

Brief Answer:
Likely muscle or ligament spasm.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the discomfort with thigh seems to be related to muscle
or ligament spasm which gets ease after certain motion.

My suggestions at present

- Keep blood sugar and BP levels under control.
- Consume balanced nutritious diet with proper amount of vitamins, minerals, anti
oxidants and proteins.
- Additional intake of multi vitamin will support a lot.
- Get an assistant with an expert physiotherapist rather than self management for better
recovery.
- Follow up after 3 days or early as per the need.

Wish you fine health. Welcome for further doubts.

Take care.
