Yes, you need to take any allergy medication for atleast 30-40 days.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
Any allergy medication should be taken for atleast 30-40 days.
There are so many allergy medications available.
It will be of great help if you can send me names of medicines you are taking.
Your sore throat and hoarse voice are not due to allergy medications but mostly due to uncontrolled allergy.
So please let me know
1. Which allergy medications you are taking?
2. Do you smoke?

I’m taking Zyrtec and Flonase. I also do sinus rinse everyday with neilmed sinus rinse. I give up on taking allergy medicine after 2-3 days usually because I feel like it’s not helping. My voice isn’t sore when I don’t take the allergy medicine it seems like

Brief Answer:
Do you do mouth gargles after Flonase?

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern. Sorry for late reply as I was busy.
Flonase is having fluticasone.
It is inhaled corticosteroid.
It can cause throat irritation and infection if technique is not correct.
And this can lead to sore throat and hoarseness of voice.
So please let me know
1. Are you following proper technique for Flonase?
2. Do you do gargles after its use?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

I think I’m following the correct technique for Flonase. I breathe In my nose pretty hard after I take it, should I inhale gently after I take it? No I don’t gargle after I take the Flonase. Also doctor is it better to breathe through my nose or my mouth? I find myself breathing through my mouth more often than my nose. Thank you
