Question : I have been having sleep difficulties. I also have numbness in my arms especially my left arm when I sleep on my left side. During last winter, I used to feel cold even though the weather was not really cold. I feel it for about one hour or so especially after meals then it went aways. I have NO psychological problems at all. In fact, I consider these days one of my best days in my life except having the problems I am describing.
Brief Answer:
Get examined by a neurologist and get tested as advised

Hypothyroidism is ariak factor for carpal tunnel syndrome.
You should get examined and evaluated by a Neurologist.
Thyroid profile and nerve conduction testing should be planned.
Sleep disturbance can be due to hypothyroidism.
Drugs like amitriptyline, sertraline can be useful.

To have an appointment with specialists takes a long time. I have been having trouble sleeping and would like you to recommend over-the-counter medicine if available that may alleviate my situation. Also, is it ok to consume the sleeping pills the PCP provided me until I get the appointment with a neurologist?
Thanks and Kind Regards

Brief Answer:
You may take medication as advised
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Over the counter drugs differ in different countries.
You can check if you can get Amitriptyline without a prescription or get it prescribed by your treating PCP. In my patients, I prefer starting with 10 mg once at night and increasing if required.
