Question : I WAS RECENTLY IN THE HOSPITAL WITH AN ANAL BLEEDING PROBLEM. AFTER THREE HOSPITALS IHAD AN ENDOSCOPY AT CEDARS. THEY FOUND NO MORE BLEEDING AND SENT ME HOME TO TAKE SUCRALFATE. WHAT US THE MEDICATION FOR

Hi,
Sucralfate is used to neutralize the acid in the stomach. Thereby reducing gastritis.
Many a times tiny angiodysplasia may bleed but not easy to find at the time of examination - colonoscopy hence missed many a times. May show up only if the scopy is done during active bleeding.
