Why Is Susten Prescribed During Pregnancy?

Question: Hi,
Just now my wife is confirmed with pregnancy and along with folic acid our doctor has also recommended susten 200. I would like to know more about this medicine as I can remember this type of medicine was not provided during our fist pregnancy. This is 2nd time my wife is pregnant. Delivery during our first kid was normal.

Congratulations on the addition of a new chapter in life.
Susten is given to give progesterone support to the growing baby and is usually given in patients with bad history or pain or bleeding in this pregnancy.
But in general it is good to take susten even in normal pregnancy as it decreases the risk of abortion significantly.
Folic acid is the most important vitamin given to all pregnant women.
