Question : Constipation, only symptom is narrow stool. VS are WNL. Increased fiber in diet, and currently drink 1.5 gallons of water daily. Able to pass gas, bowel sounds in all 4 quardants. tried warm prune juice, miralax and dulcolax. three days with only approx 2 oz of soft narrow stool 24 hours ago (im a nurse)

Hello,

You can ask your gastroenterologist to prescribe you polyethylene glycol. Polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution (PEG-ES) is used to empty the colon. PEG-ES is in a class of medications called osmotic laxatives. It works by causing watery diarrhea so that -the stool can be emptied from the colon.

In case if it also does not help go to Digital evacuation. It involves the use of fingers to aid in the removal of stool from the rectum.Stool is emptied by gently inserting a finger into the rectum and removing it.
