Brief Answer:
Possibly by malabsorption

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I read your query and here is my advice.
I think she may be having low magnesium because of chlorthalidrone which is a diuretic and excretes magnesium from body.
Also impaired absorption from bowel issues can cause low magnesium.
Taking Intravenous magnesium in hospital may be recommended if oral therapy isn't working.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.
