Why Is My Acid Reflux Causing Severe Back Pain Throat Pain Chest Discomfort?

Incomplete treatment.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for choosing "Ask a Doctor" service for your query,
-See stomach is connected to mouth by a muscular pipe called esophagus.
-While muscles in stomach are designed to withstand acid the muscles in esophagus are not.
-When acid regurgitates back into esophagus it irritates the inner lining of the muscles called mucosa.
-This irritation presents as chest pain,Heart burn etc.
-As a result of constant irritation large amount of mucous is secreted by muscle linings to protect them-Hence large amount of phelgam/mucous is there.
Just taking Omeprazole won't help.
As the name suggests acid peptic reflux consists of two parts-
1)Formation of excessive acid for which you are on Omeprazole.
2)Prevent reflux of this acid back into esophagus-This part is missed by your Doctor. Domperidom 30 mg should be taken daily with Omeprazole 20 mg dose.
Hope I was helpful.
Discuss this with your Doctor.
Thank you!
