Question : Since October 2024 I was started on a new drug for my asthma called Benralizumab. Ever since starting this injection my glands have swollen on my left side. The swelling seems to come and go. Can Benralizumab cause this problem? I have checked side effects and it does say tender swollen glands which is exactly what I have but on the left side only. Thanks
Brief Answer:
Yes
Detailed Answer:
Hii
Thanks for your query
Yes, swelling in the glands and lymph nodes though a rare one but is a side effect of Benralizumab.
Need not worry, it doesn't cause any serious health issue. If the glands hurt mild pain killer or paracetamol would be sufficient.
Hope, I answered your query
Wishing you good health

As the swelling has been present for 3 months the doctor has referred me on a cancer pathway to make sure all is okay. I am worried sick if it is cancer. Can it be okay and not be cancer please?
Brief Answer:
Scan says it all
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back
The US scan clearly concludes it to ve a cystic lesion in the gland rather than a malignant cancer. There is your proof for it to be benign.
Its wise to consider it being a side effect of Benralizumab since you are on the drug and though rare, it is a sife effect of the drug.
If you want to rule out cancer with a stronger diagnostic tool, an FNAC of the gland would do that.
