Question: My son took ibuprofen and both eyes are significantly swollen. He has no other complaints and otherwise is feeling fine. Just terribly concerned by the swelling. Took Benedryl but it had no effect at all. What would you recommend?

Brief Answer:
more information please

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

this is probably an allergic reaction to ibuprofen but please provide more information. How long did the swelling start after taking the pill? Does he have a history of allergic reactions? Any serious ones? (ones that required hospitalization). What did he take ibuprofen for?

If it's an allergy you should give benadryl some time to act (at least an hour). If more than that has passed and there's still no improvement then he'd better be assessed by a doctor in person. Sometimes corticosteroids have to be given for the reaction to wear off.

Kind Regards!
