Question : will increasing the dosage of atorvastatin from 20 mg to 80 mg increase the chances of possible side effects.

Yes it does

Detailed Answer:
Yes there is small statically increase in the side effects in high dose to low dose statins in terms of muscle pain and possible induction of diabetes in patient at high risk of developing diabetes However in absolute number this is such small number and benefits of high dose statins always outweigh the risk in appropriately chosen patient
