Will Removal Of Fibroids In Uterus Affect The Menstrual Cycle?

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Jun 2015
Question: Hi i recently had fibroid resection hystereoscopy last week as there was a 5cm submucosal fibroid inside my uterus. The doctor said he shaved off significantly . I want to know will I see the difference in my periods ? I used to hve very heavy & prolonged periods for 17 days and also severe pain due to fibroids which let me bleed between periods too. After doing this procedure when can i see the difference? Lastly will the remaining unshaved fibroid regrow and how soon?

Brief Answer:
Yearly ultrasound advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
You will get significant relief in this cycle itself and will keep on improving in subsequent 3 months.
In these three months the hypervascular endometrium lining up the inside of the uterus will regress to normal which was otherwise causing a lot of bleeding due to increased blood flow caused by fibroid.
Fibroid can grow but it usually takes 5-7 years to reach to a large symptomatic size but still yearly ultrasound is must.
In case you develop any symptoms like pain and excess bleeding then visit your doctor otherwise yearly ultrasound only will suffice.
Take care

Brief Answer:
will subside in 10-12 days

Detailed Answer:
Yes dear as I told you before that you will observe a significant decrease in amount of bleeding in upcoming cycles.
This pain and slight bleeding you are experiencing might last for another 10-12 days.
It is common after hyteroscopic resection as endometrium takes time to heal and thus cover the raw surface.
In case pain gets severe you can take tablet meftal spas 2-3 tines a day to combat it.
Take rest as much ad possible.
Take care.
