Question : Within the last2 weeks I’ve experienced an occasional dry cough. I have had a fever of 99.4. The fever occasionally is associated with slight chills. When deep breathing I have an inclination to want to cough. I have no pain ore soreness. I did have a tooth extraction around the same time. The tooth was infected. I did not fill the script. For penicillin.

                                    Brief Answer:
Possible viral pharyngitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I don't think the dry cough and fever may be related to tooth extraction two weeks ago.
The signs of tooth infection are pain, swelling of the tooth and tissues around and fever greater than 99.4F.
The signs and symptoms you are experiencing may be those of pharyngitis and most probably with viral origin.
You may need to visit your dentist to check also your tooth conditions since you let the infection untreated
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
