Question: My wife has woken up this morning with sciatic pain but also uncontrollable shivering and coldness in her hands and feet. She already takes anti inflammatory pills and painkillers [ paracetomol] for her widespread arthritis. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi
Thank for the query

Sciatic pain in now a days almost common in all ages group. Some risk factors are over weight, heavy weight and inappropriate lying posture other than pathological conditions. So it is suggested to avoid such risk factors. She is also having arthritis so control of that disease is also necessary. The effective drugs are Anti inflammatory along with Vit B12 supplements. Lying straight supine on hard surface and physiotherapy is quite helpful. Consultation from neurosurgeon is recommended
