Question : My mother is 95 and has shingles, she is diabete, and has one kidney. Her primary care Doctor, told her to use Baking soda and water paste. I have also put aloe vera gel on the scabs. Her friend recommended she try Monolaurin capsules. Can she safely take these, to help with this condition.

I don’t think Monolaurin capsules will be effective in treating her condition.

Instead she should take antiviral medicines like tablet Valacyclovir twice daily for 5-7 days. It is a prescription drug and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
