Question: Would a cancerous node increase it's size or spread in 9 months. I've had a hard submandibular lymph node going on ten months that is hard and firm but only a half inch long and has not increased

Brief Answer:
Cancer nodes are not like what you have

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Welcome to Health Care Magic.
My name is Dr Muhammad Ahmad & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way.

I completely understand your concern specially as you are having this for 9 months it definitely raises questions ans concerns

My OPINION:
Reading you history, old questions put by you and description i can tell that this is NOT a cancerous node apparently.
1-Nodes don't get cancer and still stay hard benign and same size and same round shape...
2-They invade surrounding tissue.
3-They reduce patient's weight.
4-They hurt.
5-They put pressure on structures around.

A silent node like this is most probably benign lymph node swelling, with nearly no chances of getting activated to malignant one , best things you can do is to get a biopsy on it this will tell very clearly what it is.

But according to what you told me it is NOT cancerous. So please stay calm and don't panic just get a biopsy done.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!

I also have bad sinuses all the times and have had enlarged tonsils my hole life
doctor
Answered by Dr. Muhammad Ahmad (6 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
This node can well be enlarged due to infections.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back to me,

Yes sinses and tonsills drain to these nodes,
Long standing infections or inflammations of tonsils and sinuses can make nodes to get inflammation and this inflammation can make nodes develop fibrous tissue and go hard

There is no way that this node can convert into a cancerous one, it is expected to stay there for ever untill removed and it will not go small or big will stay almost the same.

I would suggest you not to panic get an FNAC done and wait for pathologist report you can discuss this report with us then and we will try to help you further.

I hope that answers you question if you have any other related question you can ask otherwise you can rate and close the discussion. Wish you health.

So it doesn't sound line leukemia lymphoma or throat cancer I have no cancer in my family
doctor
Answered by Dr. Muhammad Ahmad (4 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
no it doesnt sound like one.

Detailed Answer:
No leukemia ans lymphoma have hundred other symptoms like losing weight malaise blook works go disturbed and there isnt just one node involved its a whole bunch of nodes usually involved plus symptoms like fever sweating hot flashes and many more.

You can be quite sure that it is just an odd inflammed node which caught inflammed from tonsils infection and now it has fibrosed to become hard...

You are advised to get it biopsied it will rule out every thing and you will get you doubts alleviated.

Hope this answers the question, if you have more , i am happy to answer other wise please rate the answers and close the discussion thanks.

Wish you good health

That makes me feel better I had blood work during a physical 7 months ago and all blood counts were normal
doctor
Answered by Dr. Muhammad Ahmad (10 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
You don't have to panic.

Detailed Answer:
Hi thanks for writing back.

I guess you have about things on internet but i would just like to say that only a professional can correlate tests and examination to come out with a diagnosis, so i would ask you not to read so many things on the internet , you can't rely on the info and even if info is true there are hundred factors which rule out or rule in any disease like age family exposure to carcinogens etc, and in your case you don't have any risk factor neither does your swelling looks like one, not your blood works and symptoms suggest that so i would ask you not to be anxious and take it easy.

I hope that answers you question if you have any other related question you can ask otherwise you can rate and close the discussion. Wish you health.

Could an impact wisdom tooth cause this
doctor
Answered by Dr. Muhammad Ahmad (4 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
there is no chance of it in my opinion

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing back
No sir!! Impacted tooth is not likely the cause.. it seems to be an inflamed lymph node which later got hard and fibrosed. In my opinion there is nothing to be worried about.

Thanks for asking, if you have more to ask i am happy to answer,if you don't have any more questions please rate the answers and close the discussion.Wish you health.

Just curious how fast and big would a cancerous node grow
doctor
Answered by Dr. Muhammad Ahmad (17 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
There isn't any fixed pattern but there are some signs

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
thanks for writing back to me,

actually nodes in body are at critical places because they drain critical organs, specially nodes of neck face and head are at very critical and exposed areas so a small growth is detected by the patients and doctors take no time to do biopsy and cut that node out.
So there is no particular size or speed at a which the node grows because a growing node on face is immediately detected by patient and within a couple of weeks doctors take it out if biopsy and signs are indicative of cancer. In your case it doesn't look like a cancer at all, a biopsy will confirm it for you.

Ok I just figured over 10 months it would have increased a lot
doctor
Answered by Dr. Muhammad Ahmad (2 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
exactly it would have got real big

Detailed Answer:
hi,
thanks for writing back,
yes you are right in this,

if it were a cancer it would have created a menace at the place where it lies, it would have got big and would have started to put pressure on your neck and you would have noticed a growing thing in your neck months ago.

It feels attached to the muscle but it could be the fibrous I guess but it causes no symptoms or discomfort
doctor
Answered by Dr. Muhammad Ahmad (3 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
That proves it to be benign

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
thanks for writing back,
actually in neck most of the structures are attach to each other by loose connective tissue so that they stay in place same way there must be connective tissue connecting node to the skin because inflammation made it hard so it has got attached strongly to skin.

You don't feel symptoms because neither has it grown, nor it has invaded ...it is just benign and silent which tells us that it's not cancer.

Hope this answers the question, if you have more , i am happy to answer other wise please rate the answers and close the discussion thanks.

No sir nothing just chronic sinuses
doctor
Answered by Dr. Muhammad Ahmad (5 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Don't worry about blood streaks

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
thanks for writing back to me,

You told me you had bad sinuses and tonsils since many years , when you sneeze very hard sometimes inflamed sinuses or tonsils can give off minor quantities of blood , it is not a big issue if you don't have chest issues or stomach then it means it was a local source in you mouth or pharynx local sources just bleed when we cough or sneeze very hard they are not dangerous because bleeding stops instantaneously and there is not long term problems expect.

I will ask you not to panic and don't worry about this thing it can happen in normal people, once in a while.

Hope this answers the question, if you have more , i am happy to answer other wise please rate the answers and close the discussion thanks.
