Question : Two weeks ago my throat had sputum and cough The doctor prescribed antibiotics (Augmentin 375mg), anti-inflammatory pills and cough syrup (codeine) for five days It improved after eating, but when the cough syrup was finished. The throat started to feel uncomfortable and felt a lot of phlegm stuck in my throat cause more coughing. After a hard day, cough up a bunch of green crickets. The throat is much more comfortable. 1. Symptoms to be asked are no nose water, no sore throat. It's just a throat itchy and a green sputum that causes a cough. Is pharyngitis? 1. I would like to ask about my symptoms. Codeine cough syrup has accumulated a lot of phlegm in my throat, right? I should use cough syrup with ingredient of Guaiphenesin better than codeine, is it right? 2. Now that throat discomfort has eased a lot! But every time after the meal began to have a sip. It takes me a while to cough. Is there still something that has not healed? Should i buy cough syrup with ingredient of Guaiphenesin medicine to help?

Green mucus is more suggestive of lung infection. In my opinion, you should get done chest X-ray to rule out lung infection. If chest X-ray is normal then there is no need to worry about lung infection.

In your condition, cough expectorant like Guaifenesin will be more helpful. I don't think you have pharyngitis because pharyngitis will cause sore throat and this is absent in your case.
