Question : My Gastro Dr prescribed ursodiol. having Gallbladder removed Mar. 19 surgeon said stop ursodiol. I also have primary biliary duct cirrhosis. I think I should continue taking ursodiol. What do you think?

There is no need to stop ursodiol.

Hello,

There is no indication to stop ursodiol before gallbladder surgery. Moreover, since you are diagnosed with primary biliary cirrhosis it is important to continue taking ursodiol to prevent disease progression

So I would recommend that it is best to continue ursodiol. Please discuss with your surgeon and gastroenterologist too, regarding continuing ursodiol.
