Would Eating Sushi Lead To Tape Worm Infestation?
Question: Hi Doctor, I just became aware of a CDC report that there is tapeworm parasites in salmon sold in the USA. I know that if the salmon is very well cooked, it kills the parasite.
However in recent days, Sat. 1/14/17 and Sun. 1/15/17, I had salmon sushi at two restaurants that I like. I am going to stop eating sushi. But what should I do now considering I have been routinely eating salmon sushi (at high quality restaurants)?

The advise I give to you is as follows:
First, if you are starting to experience any symptoms of fevers, chills nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, and or changes in stool habits (blood or segments of strange poo) you must seek medical consultation.
The likelihood of you having obtained Tapeworm infiltration regardless of your recent salmon ingestion is very low; as such I wouldn't seek treatment unless you are symptomatic, and or extremely sure of obtained infection.
Otherwise, make sure that you are adequately engaging proper hygiene methods (washing hands + using toilet paper) to ensure that you are not spreading anything that -despite how rare- you could have contracted.
