Question : Taking over the recommended dose of paracetamol for back pain For 3 liver enzymes were elevated would they return to normalPrevious liver enzymes were normal

                                    Brief Answer:
How much did you take?
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Please let me know how much paracetamol you've used so far. I need all the details. I need the time you took any dose and the milligrams of the doses. Paracetamol poisoning can be very serious and you have to be very cautious with it.
I would also need the test reports; I need to know which enzymes were elevated and which were normal (and which tests were done besides the liver enzyme tests).
I'll be waiting for your input.

                                    Brief Answer:
Paracetamol is a likely cause
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
6 grams per day is too much, although not as high to consider the dosage unequivocally toxic. Your body weight is important as a 100Kgr person may tolerate much higher doses of paracetamol than a 50Kgr person. For a 100Kgr person 6 grams per day may be safe (although not recommended).
If paracetamol is indeed the cause then stopping it should make the enzymes return to normal after 15-30 days (gamma-GT requires a month, the transaminases requires less time). You haven't still specified how high the enzymes were, which enzymes were elevated and which were normal.
Common causes of liver enzymes' elevation include fatty liver disease, viral infections, various drugs, etc.
I hope you find my comments helpful! Please let me know if you have more questions or you need any clarification. I'll be glad to provide more comments, if you'd like to upload the test reports.
Regards
