Question: Would it be expected that a GP would test blood and urine of a diabetic patient who has chronic vomiting? Even if patient was attending for another reason?

There is nothing wrong in doing basic blood work up and urine studyin case of chronic vomiting.
If you have multiple episodes of vomiting there are chances of electrolytes changes and which can be picked up by basis blood investigations.
