Brief Answer:
The common side effects are initial headache and leg swelling

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

Amlodipine belong to a calcium channel blocker medicines. By blocking calcium ions entering to the tissues of vessels it relaxes those vessels making better blood flow. Amlodipine is usually tolerated well by patients but some patients may experience slight headache after taking amlodipine. The headache will take about 1 week to subside as the body adjusts to the medicine.
Amlodipine may also cause other side effects: the common side effects are leg swelling, breathing difficulties, irregular heart rate, redness in the upper chest or face, dizziness or lightheadedness.
Rarely, it may cause black stools, bleeding problems, blurred vision, chest pain, confusion, fatigue, fever, joint or muscle pain, cough and diarrhea. If you experience any of these signs and symptoms please, immediately contact your doctor.
Taking magnesium supplements may increase the effect of amlodipine causing decreased blood pressure. You may experience lightheadedness, dizziness or fatigue. If you experience these symptoms, please, get your blood pressure checked. You may need decreased dose of amlodipine. Also, do not stop using amlodipine suddenly. It may worsen chest pain or high blood pressure get worse.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you

Brief Answer:
Amlodipine besylate have no side effects on kidney.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Hope you are tolerating the medicine very well.

Different forms of amlodopine exist in the market. Amlodipine is always combined to different salts such as maleate, besylate, etc. (where the name amlodipine besylate came from) but the main ingredient is amlodipine. There is no significant difference in clinical, pharmacokinetic or side effect parameters between amlodipine besylate or maleate forms.
Amlodipine cleared from the body by the liver (may not be used in liver disorders) but it does not have side effects in a healthy kidney. It increases blood flow in kidneys and some recent researches show this effect can be beneficial for certain chronic kidney problems.

Hope this information is helpful for you. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
