Question: Hi, doctor. Hope all is well with you. Doctor, a few weeks ago I had a fall where I fractured my hip and part of the pain in recovery is groin pain. As I'm dealing with that, having sharp burning stabbing pain in the pelvic area on one side and considering my long history with neuralgia, my family doctor mentioned this pain probably is rooted in the pudendal nerve which was aggravated by the injury. Not being a neurologist, he has no clue as to relieve this pain. Two part question. Would u know of anything that I can do for this and also, would any of the meds I have for facial neuralgia be of any use (Neurontin, Lyrica, Trileptal?) Thank u so much.

Brief Answer:
Combination of anti inflammatory with antineuralgic drugs should help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for the direct questions.

I have read your new question.

Drugs you use for the neuralgia should improve the groin pain too, since most likely it is of neural origin.

Anti inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen for example should be used in addition to the neuralgia drugs in order to control better the pain.

This combination ( Lyrica with ibuprofen for example) may be used for a couple of weeks.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
