Question: Would you say a 10 x 8 x 8 CM simple kidney cyst could cause intermittent RUQ pain

Simple Renal Cysts are usually asymptomatic and do not give rise to Pain.

Based on the facts that you have been detected to have a simple Renal Cyst .

Simple Renal cysts are congenital in origin and benign in nature .Normally there is no pain arising from these cysts unless they get infected .However there may be dull pain if the tension in the cyst increases .

I have read on several medical sites that large cysts could RUQ pain. You seem to say no or be non specific?

The Simple Renal cysts are congenital and usually detected accidentally during routine Ultrasound Scanning of the abdomen and are always benign in nature and does not cause pain however it may give rise to pain when it gets infected or increases in size .

It is the complex cyst or infected simple cysts that give pain in RUQ .

You have to monitor the size of the cyst by doing Ultrasound Scanning at frequent intervals of 3 months and decide need for ultrasound guided aspiration.
