Question : Yesterday I noticed a dark blue or black mark on the side of my mouth near the back upper right teeth. It is mostly circular and about the size of a pencil eraser. At first, I thought it might be a blood blister but it doesn't look raised and doesn't hurt. I think it might be darker than a blood blister too. I don't think I have the main risk factors for oral cancer but I'm worried now. I don't smoke or drink alcohol and I don't think I'd be considered a high hpv risk. (I just have one stable partner.) I don't know if it's relevant but I wear a night guard for bruxism. Can you tell what this might be? Should I see a dentist now or wait to see what happens?

Can be inflamed salivary gland opening
Detailed Answer:
Hii, first of all thank you for approaching us for your query.I read through your query.I must say that nothing to be worried in this case. Its just an inflamed salivary gland opening(parotid gland opening)which opens opposite to upper teeth. It can be due to some trauma like burn while having hot food stuffs, or due prick by some sharp food stuffs.Since no pain is there no medication is required and nothing to be worried. It will be fine in few days time.Do warm salt water gargle.Have lots of water and fruits.Stay calm and be happy.Happy mind is the best medicine for any disease.Hope you understood what I meant.Thank you and have a healthy day.

OK thank you. Do you think if it is still there in a week, that is a sign it might be much more serious? Or could it be benign but take a while to heal? I’m going to be on vacation next week and I don’t want to worry about it.
Also, I eat a lot of hot spicy food like jalapeños and chili peppers. Do you think that might have caused this?
