Question: after having my retinal laser surgery to prevent detachment it feels like my eye are a XXXXXXX lamp and theres a ring of light that wonders around rach eye slowly from time to time during the day. its not a flash and onlu occurs on the edge of the eye. my opthomologist has checked them out numerous times and says all is fine but its still weird snd i do not want to be going blind. do yoi know wjays happening?

my dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
In such cases it is paramount to have the periphery of retina examined thoroughly.That is rule out any peripheral degenerations.Once that is ruled out/taken care of by laser,next commonest issue is peripheral vitreous detachment.This gives occasional ring of flashes,say 5 to 6 times a day and may increase on straining.
This has no significance and it gradually subsides, without any side effect.
You have to be on your gaurd and have follow up every 6 months.
As a precaution you can avoid excessively straing exercises for the time i
