Brief Answer:
Taking magnesium with atenolol and doxazosin is safe

Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using Ask a Doctor. Taking magnesium with atenolol and doxazosin is perfectly safe and there shouldn't be any problems. You would only need to take magnesium supplements if you are found to be deficient, in which case it can cause many problems, such as neurological problems, cardiovascular problems especially with abnormal heart rhythms, and regulation of other electrolytes. If you do have a deficiency in magnesium, supplementation will be beneficial for all these areas.

If you are not deficient in magnesium, while supplementation is not likely to harm anything, it is not likely to have any benefit as well.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any questions about any of that, and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.
