Brief Answer:
Need details of cough

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Cough is a protective mechanism so that any object, allergic secretion or infection in windpipe gets thrown out. Please let me know the severity of cough, how often it happens, any difficulty in breathing, any other symptoms, any past history of cough, any smoking history or exposure to air pollution.

In case of cough of long duration we need to figure the cause. It could be allergy, asthma, infection in windpipe. I would recommend getting tested like complete blood count, AEC, pulmonary function test and chest X-ray PA view and Throat swab for culture. Accordingly medicine can be prescribed.

Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
