Question : doctor i had a casual sexual encounter , unprotected oral and protected vaginal sex . after 5 and a half weeks i got a diarrhoea which lasted for 4 days then i googled my symptom a hiv came up in the search . i panicked .. i started to rub my body for lymphnodes i found lymph nodes in my groin and under my jaw , the ones in my jaw are less than 1 cm and the once in my groin are a bit larger .. they dont hurt . i didnt have any typical symptom of ARS like fever , fatigue , rash , sore throat, weightloss etc . but im extremely worried . i have never rubbed my body for lymphnodeds so when i found them after rubbing for it im panicking . they might have been there previously i dont know since ive not checked before. they do not hurt and they are frim like umm rubber bullets ... please help .. do you suspect that i have ARS?

I read your concern and below is my answer for your question.

You might not have ARS just now because the sore throat, cold, fever etc like symptoms not present.
However old viral upper respiratory tract infection could be causative factor for enlarged lymph node.

You need not to worry about cervical nodes as they are less than 1 cm and painless. You can check size of enlarged groin node by your self. If it is more than 1 cm than you can consult nearby doctor.

According to your history it seems that you have fear of acquiring HIV as well. But the chance of acquiring HIV is very nil as you had done protected sex.
