Brief Answer:
Acute or chronic epiglottis infection

Detailed Answer:
Hii.

Acute or chronic epiglottis infection occurs due to bacterial infections like streptococcus pneumoniae, haemophilus pneumoniae and may be due to viral infections also. It generally occurs in young individuals due to lack of immunity and overcrowding. The mainstay of treatment is to have a throat swab and sent for culture and sensitivity. According to the report we should start an antibiotic, antiallergic tablet levocetrizine and betadine gargle. Proper maintenance of hygiene along with proper diet will also help in the treatment of epiglottis infection. It is better to check for tuberculosis and diphtheria testing as it may lead for chronic epiglottis infection.
