Question: features suggesting SMA occulusion,highly suspicious for mesentric ischemia.

the patient is 55 years old. can this be cured

Hi
In Early stages, Thrombolytic therapy will give good results.But,it should be evaluated by Angiography.
Blood flow to the Gut should become normal after Thrombolytic therapy.If ischemia persists,bowel becomes Gangrenous and the patient may need Emergency surgery.
Recently,I have operated few patients with SMA Occlusion.
who developed gangrene of the bowel.Patients discharged without any problem.
Please consult a Surgical Gastroenterologist and proceed further.
Nothing to worry.
Please consult immediately as it is an Emergency.
