Brief Answer:
Require further evaluation as there can be multiple causes...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, there can be multiple causes for pain.

1. Muscle strain that happens due to muscle fibers tear as a result of overstretching.

2. Tendinitis is inflammation of tendon which may cause difficulty to move the affected joint.

3. Stress fracture is a small crack in a bone, may be due to overuse or repetitive stress or force.

So for further assessment, I would suggest you to consult with orthopedician and he would go for X Ray of affected foot. Use support while walking.

Till then you can take NSAIDS like tablet Ibuprofen (motrin) 400 mg 8 hourly or sos. Apply diclofenac gel locally and go for hot fomentation.

Hope I have answered your query and let me know if I can assist you further.....thank you.

Regards,
Dr Shyam Kale

They told me I had to get another image of my foot because a stress fracture didn't show up on the X-Ray. I wasn't sure if that was possible because I've never heard of that

Brief Answer:
kindly consult with orthopedician.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

X ray has poor sensitivity in detecting stress fracture and MRI is the most sensitive modality.

Stress fractures often results from increasing amount, intensity or frequency of an activity too quickly.

Still as there are multiple causes for foot pain, so I would suggest you to consult with expert orthopedician for detailed medical examination and proper evaluation.

Till then kindly follow all measures as explained earlier.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam Kale
