Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that this test is usually prescribed to investigate for the presence of coronary angio CT scan or the mycardium viability.

You should know that coffee may trigger the sympathetic nervous system, leading to increased heart rate which may cause artifacts.

You may try decaffeinated coffee instead of real coffee.

Another test option would be a coronary angio CT scan or special techniques of cardiac MRI.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

I would also like to mention that you are taking carvedilol, which is a betablocker and if you decide to do this test, it is recommendable avoiding this drug within 24 hours.

I would be glad to review your performed tests to for a second professional opinion, whenever you will upload them.

Hope to have been helpful!

Wishing good health,

Dr. Iliri

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

A coronary angio CT scan is a type of CT scan, which uses intravenous contrast to examine the blood flow in the coronary arteries and also evaluates the calcium score, which helps investigate for coronary artery disease.

Carvedilol is the only betablocker on your list of medications. So, it should not be used within 24 hours of the procedure.

Decaffeinated coffee is OK, because it does not lead to tachycardia (there is no caffeine inside it).

Hope you will find this information helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
