Brief Answer:
Test report says it can not detect HIV infection

Detailed Answer:
HI,
Welcome to Ask A Doctor service,
Thanks for posting your query.

4th generation HIV test is an advanced one. Previous generation tests usually detect only the antibodies against HIV 1 and 2.

Antigen detecting tests are available separately (Costly and takes time to get the results). Whereas the 4th generation HIV tests are simple to perform, highly reliable, and can be able to detect HIV 1 Antigen and antibodies for both HIV 1 and 2.
Your HIV report says that you are free from HIV 1 and 2 infection.

But one thing I would like to know is how many days after exposure this test was performed. Only with that information, one can interpret the status of the report and its reliability with more authentication.

Brief Answer:
Reliability of the test may vary with duration of window period

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
I feel you don't need any test for HIV in the absence of any type of sexual exposure -(premarital or extramarital), history of any homosexual activities and mutipartners sex. I hope that you would not have received blood or blood products anytime in your life. Then you may not require any test for HIV infection.
Why I'm asked the history is, if the test done 12 weeks after the exposure, if any, the test report can be considered as a conclusive one for both HIV 1&2. If it is taken earlier the reliability may vary.

Brief Answer:
You are absolutely free from HIV infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
They would have asked you to have the test as a routine battery of tests and to rule out any least possibility of HIV infection as a cause for your condition. The result cam nonreactive and you are also have no risk factor for HIV infection. Simply forget the same and carry on your daily routine.
