I was struck by a car at 6 years of age, in 1969. I have had more failed surgeries before I was 18 than imaginable. My left leg is 3" shorter. The car severed my left growth plate, at 12 all of my growth plates were surgically severed. Many bone graphs by the time I was 12.
Now in my mid 50's, I am having major trouble getting around. Shoe lifts do not work well because of foot nerve damage, drop foot, joints taken out of toes. I was diagnosed with severe arthritis before I was 40. I had to work very hard, especially in the last 10 years, before retiring disabled at 47. I guess this says it all.
Treatment options explained below in details.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I am really sorry to see that you have suffered so many health issues.
As I see through your query you are already taking painkillers for the pain.
To your actual treatment I would add a treatment for the nerve damage.
I would suggest Gabapentin which is considered the first-line treatment for neuropathic pain.
It is a prescription medication so you should consult your doctor before taking it.
I would also suggest to take vitamin B and D supplements.
I would also recommend regular exercise.
Exercises would also help with the pain because of the release of endorphins.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further
