Question: hello doctor! I want to ask something regarding my one year old girl. Yesterday she made the vaccine injection of prevenar, it is the 10 month vaccine but due to the varicella encountered by her bigger sister, I delayed it and made yesterday. She had a litle fever but I am worried because she has so much pain and screams as I touch her leg and is becoming more red and swollen. is it normal? should I go back and check to the pediatrian ? can I use something to relief the pain? This is the first time that has this kind of probl. I am attaching the photo of the injection and the leg. thank you!

Brief Answer:
Usually Prevenar should not cause so much pain

Detailed Answer:
Hello... I understand your concern, usually Prevenar vaccine should not cause so much of pain and redness and tenderness.
I suggest you give Ibuprofen at the dose of 10 milligrams per kg per dose every 8 hours for another 24 hours and if it is still the same then you can approach her pediatrician.

But I did not get any image here and I would be glad to get back to you if you can upload it again.

Thank you doctor for the response. If I give ibrufen can it lower the body temperature? Her weight is 10 kg and she turned one year one week ago. Meanwhile I am trying to attach the foto but I don't know why you don't see it. Thank you again!
