Brief Answer:
There is a linear cyst area in C6-C7 level. No other lesion in given images

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

There is a small linear STIR hyperintense lesion in the cervical cord in C6-C7 disc and vertebrae levels as you have pointed out and is a likely cyst.

The STIR hyperintenstiy in the lower back is from edema in the subcutaneous deep fascia and not due to any spinal cord problem.

You might like to share all images in your CD as dicom format using google drive or any file upload facility for a complete review of your MRI scan.

hi thanks so much for your answer. is edema in the area you mentioned is that because I was laying down for the scan? sorry if that seems like a silly question my neurologist wont operaate on the cyst because it is too small. what would be the best way to manage this? and can it possibly grow bigger would there be any sign of chiari? thank you so much XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Less changes of the cyst growing big

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

The edema is in the subcutaneous area and is below the skin surface. It is not due to lying down at the time of scan. Such edema is an incidental finding and not of much significant. It is likely that you might have a mild increase int he water content in the deep fatty tissue over the muscle layer.

The cyst can be allowed to remain as it is. It is not an active lesion and trying to remove can cause new problems for you.

Chiari is a technical term and to be used on visualisation of certain features. Classification of Chiari is changing with advances in neurology and even a syrinx is some times called a Chiari 0.

We cannot predict the growth of the cyst or syrinx like lesion right now and most probably it might not grow. However getting a follow up MRI scan every few years will allow us to check on the growth of the cyst.
