Question: hello my mom is 65 y/o hypertensive took amlodipine 5 mg caused her side effect like sweating muscle pain in upper extremeties and dry mouth insomnia she stopped taking it 2 days ago but her bp reading is very low

Hello

The common side effect caused by amlodipine is ankle edema. Insomnia, sweating or muscle aches are not commonly reported side effects.

Now as her bp is running low so it’s advisable not to give her any medication and just monitor bp twice daily for 5 days as this will help decide what dose she need to be started on if bp goes high.
