Question : hi Doctor! I have had sunspots/age spots on the tops of my hands and lower arms which have bothered me cosmetically. I found an experienced and licensed esthetician here in New York and went last week for a treatment called Vascutouch, in which she used a probe that just touches the skin with a small electrical current to treat both the age spots and also some tiny vascular things and sebaceous hyperplasia on my face and maybe a freckle or two. I’m attaching pics of the before and after...the areas are just scanning up and healing nicely. Do you feel this treatment was fine to have done? I have regular skin cancer checks and just had one one month ago and all was fine. Theoretically, if any spot treated was something worrisome, it would reappear anyways, correct? Thank you again for your help and any reassurance!!

Brief Answer:
Treatment you have undergone is absolutely fine

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and reviewed the attached photographs.
The treatment you have undergone is absolutely fine for age spots and freckles and results are also promising.
There is no need to worry.
These benign lesions also have a tendency to recur but very gradually if at all they recur.

Oh Dr. Sawhney...once again you’ve given me total relief...thank you!!

Two quick follow up questions....I’ve had the white hypopigmented spots for a long time and they’re more noticeable now that I’ve had some color from the sun. I know that nothing can be done for them...but they are not dangerous, correct?

Also, I’ve had IPL treatments on f my face and was wondering if it can be done on the tops of my hands and arms to help with the residual hyperpigmentation and underlying damage?

Thank you again!!!
