Hi. So I Am Trying To Figure Out If I

I guess I%E2%80%99ll just tell you what%E2%80%99s going on and you can tell me what you think.
So last night I had a VERY scary, sudden onset of extreme double vision that came out of nowhere, so much so i couldnt see the TV or even read words had they been held up in front of my fsce. It was accompanied by a feeling of pressure in my neck, like if I was to put pressure on both carotid arteries, and like i was being spun around on one of those spinning things you usually see in the park, only without the dizziness and nausea or disorientation. i did not have a headache or anxiety. One minute was i was watching TV, the next i couldnt see. it lasted for a litrle over an hour, and i could only get relief if i sat up. as soon as i laid down, the pressure in my head/neck and double vision would start again. I have never felt anything remotely similar to these symptoms in my life and it scared the hell out of me. i also had trouble thinking straighr and stumbled when i tried to walk. but no tingljng or numbness at all. It finally went away and i went to sleep.
when I woke up this morkng i felt heavy headed, have blurred vision and a little nauseated, very tired. but no double vision but blurred. i have to squint to see well. Of course I was a little concerned and took my blood pressure just to see what it was. It was 174/114. So I waited 20 minuted and checked it again: 188/111. it finally went down to 140/90 after 5 hours. until then my diastolic never went below 102.
Is this an emergency or can I wait until I make an appointment to see a cardiologist?

Hello!
Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!
I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms are suggestive of a panic attack.
Your blood pressure values are high and concerning about uncontrolled high blood pressure, which needs medical attention.
Anyway, I don't think that your situation is an emergency and I think that you should consult with your attending physician as soon as possible.
I don't think that there is any need to go to the ER if you don't experience symptoms like those of the other night.
If the situation repeats, I would recommend going to the ER for a physical exam, a brain CT scan and some blood lab tests ( complete blood count, blood electrolytes, thyroid hormone levels, kidney and liver function tests) coupled with a resting ECG.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need!
Kind regards,
Dr.Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
