what could be the cause of recurring eye infection

i always have it in my left eye since childhood just my left eye

and it happens once or twice a year my eye would becomes red irritated and my lower or upper eyelid becomes bigger with a lot of yellow discharg

Thanks for sending your query to us.

There has to be a source of infection, which has to be looked into. Common sources of infection are from lid margin in the Meibomian glands, which are about 20 in the upper lid and 12 in the lower lid.

Another source may be the lacrimal sac. These have to be examined and source of infection to be searched and managed properly to solve the problem permanently.
