I Had A Laminectomy March 20th That I Thought Was

i would also like to know what you think of Nrf2? Someone just told me about it and how it helped their pain among a lot of other things. is it worth trying? The video I watched about it and how it improved the quality of the cells made sense to me.
Nrf2 treatment is still under study and there is no approval yet for use in sciatica pain
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service,
I carefully read your query.
Medications that work with the NrF2 pathway are very new and still under study. They are approved for some diseases like Multiple Sclerosis but are still under observation if they can be used for many other conditions.
Mostly they help with conditions that cause neurodegeneration, thus damage of the nerve cells. As for problems related to nerves themselves, this still needs to be determined scientifically.
On the other hand, there are treatments available that may help with nerve pain, as it may be the case with you. Gabapentin, for instance, can be taken. This is a prescription drug and a doctor needs to prescribe it.
Physiotherapy is another good way to relieve the pressure on the nerve and bring pain control.
If the pain is not improving or it is getting more pronounced, then post laminectomy syndrome should be considered and you will need to discuss this with your doctor.
Treatment with medications, in this case, is not sufficient and other measures to quiet down the nerve pain need to be taken.
I hope this is helpful and answers to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
