Question: i have been diagnosed with CKD, SLE, and am having renal biopsy in a week. For seven weeks i have suffered daily prednisone 60 mg, cellcept, plaquenil . In 55 days, I have gotten worse but nore, I gained 38 lbs without overeating , i look like a pregnant woman, with the achy body of a 200 year's old. i take all as instructed, but 4he steroids do not make me better. I never sleep, and the corticsteroids make me rage. why do your fellow specialists not warn patients that it is impossible to keep stress down while consuming this medicine daily, morphing into angry, starving, impotent doughboy.then the withdrawals and insomnia! Are any other subtitues for prednisone ? ckd is incurable so why prescribe a medicine that CAUSES lymphoma ? Its brutal.

Brief Answer:
Necessary

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,
I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns but since you are suffering from CKD and SLE then prednisone is necessary to avoid the adverse effects of systemic lupus on the kidney which might lead to further progression of you renal insufficiency...

However, if the adverse effects are not well tolerated then you can refer to your doctor to decrease the daily dose..

I hope you find this helpful
