Question : i have been taking seroquel xr 50 mg for over a year for sleep basically. ive been wanting to get off cause of weight gain. i fell asleep last night and didnt take it. Will withdrawl happen if I get off it completely?? since 50 mg is the lowest dose of xr.
Brief Answer:
Generally no withdrawal effects are minimal withdrawal effects
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
At the lowest dose of seroquel generally no or minimal withdrawal effects are experienced by most individuals. So tapering it down in single step can be taken provided there is no symptoms at current date for which seroquel was prescribed.
Having said this to be on safer side it is advisable to go 25% down every week. The 25 mg tablet can be taken one and half for one week followed by one tablet for next week followed by half tablet for next week followed by complete stop.
I hope this answers you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.
