Posted on Sat, 18 Jul 2020
Question:
i have had a lot of gas for a few years and lately I have been having on-and-off blood in stool. it is medium red or bright red, usually on the stool or on wiping. some days my stool is softer and seems narrowed. I am worried about potentially some kind of cancer. I already drink a lot of water in my diet and my stool is not hard. I am currently high BMI.

Brief Answer:
A colonoscopy should be done.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think you should get further evaluated .
A doctor may examine you physically to see if the cause of bleeding may be hemorrhoids or fisure on anal area.
If there is no problem on anus you should do a colonoscopy .
Blood in stool may be a sign of inflammation of colon such colitis or polyps or even cancer.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
