Question : i have had this rash for 5 days, miserable w/ sore chest, sore abdomen shingles . No appetite, force self to eat small amounts as more leads to vomiting. constipation seems to have broken, 3 good movements in last 5 hours, last one loose. Taking Valacyclover RX since eve 8/23. Abdomen still sore. Is this all normal? Any suggestions/

Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think the nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea may be side effects of valacyclovir.
It also may give dizziness.
Please make sure that you are not taking more valacyclovir than needed, 1000 mg three times daily and the treatment should last for 7 days.
You will see the rash to improve gradually.
Take valacyclovir with an empty stomach to minimise nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
Eat toasted bread, sticks etc.
Ear small amounts of food.
Don't drink fruit juices and too much fruits and vegetables because they may make you continue with those symptoms.
